Welcome to our March newsletter

Spring is quickly approaching and we are ready to welcome it with open arms, following a very busy winter period!

Business News

East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire) is holding a programme of Your Future Careers Fair events across the region throughout February and March and in which PAB recently participated.

These events aim to inspire and motivate young people aged 14-24 to think about prospective careers and employment options once they complete their education. It also reminds them that they should make the most of their remaining time in education. The Your Future Careers Fair programme is a government funded national project to deliver 250 events through Chambers of Commerce, attracting over 70,000 young people across England.

A similar event was the Jobs Fair in the University Centre at Boston College held on February 20th  in Boston, Lincolnshire. The event, jointly organised by Job Centre Plus, Boston College and Boston Borough Council, was supported by companies and organisations that either have vacancies to be filled or are able to offer their support to those looking for a job. Among those taking part alongside PAB were The Army, Avon, Boston College, Firstpoint Homecare, JDM Produce, MI Homecare, Lincolnshire Police PCSO, Princes Trust, Tattershall Lakes, UBU, United Lincolnshire NHS Trust, Walnut Care and Work Based Learning Alliance (Apprenticeships).

Also worth nothing in terms of our winter event calendar was the fact that Iwona Lebiedowicz, PAB’s managing director, was one of the speakers at the British-Polish Manufacturing Industries Network. Iwona is always very keen to take part in events looking more closely at the strong link between the cultural values she was brought up with in her native Poland with all that Britain - a place she now calls home- has to offer, not only in cultural terms but also in terms of business opportunities. She spoke very eloquently about the importance of the combination of the British professionalism and the Polish “can do attitude”, a topic about which she is very passionate.

The event, organised by the British-Polish Chamber of Commerce, took place on February 17th. It brought together Polish and UK manufacturers and highlighted the mutual benefits of cooperation.

The agenda for the day also included a presentation on EU funding for R&D projects given by Jerzy Bartosik, the Head of the Trade and Investment Section of the Polish Embassy in London.  Panel speakers for the day included names such as Con Murphy, Sector Director in Advanced Manufacturing for Rodl & Partner and Piotr Hunik, Construction Project Manager for Rolls-Royce.

Also highlighted on PAB’s busy event calendar was February 11th, the day when the Love Business East Midlands event took place in Nottingham. This event is designed to promote, support and create opportunities for businesses operating in the area. It is also the biggest event of its kind in the area.

On March 17th PAB will be one of the sponsors of the prestigious East Midlands Chamber Annual Gala Dinner – an occasion where the region’s most influential businesses gather. It will take place at the Roundhouse in Derby.

The keynote speaker is the Rt. Hon. Anna Soubry MP, Minister for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise.

The after dinner speaker will be Sir Ranulph Fiennes Bt OBE, the first person to reach both North and South Poles on foot and, at the age of 65, the oldest Briton to conquer Everest.

PAB Translation’s Managing Director Iwona Lebiedowicz added: “Lelde has been with the company for five years and is a very ambitious and dedicated member of our team as well as a very hard-working mum. Let us also take this opportunity to introduce Magdalena Drzewiecka, the newest addition to PAB’s team.
